The first two weeks after Ulthera: what to avoid

Aftercare

Ulthera aftercare focuses on moisturizing, sun protection and avoiding a few activities

You can return to your hotel on the day of Ulthera treatment, without bed rest or dressings. Avoiding certain activities over the following two weeks can make recovery more comfortable. Here is what to expect in order.

Treatment day

Mild redness or swelling may resolve within hours to days. Tenderness when touched is a common response to treatment at deeper layers and generally improves over 2–4 weeks. You can walk, eat and rest at your hotel the same day. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, avoid rubbing and moisturize afterward.

What to avoid in weeks 1–2

  • Saunas, steam rooms and long hot baths
  • Strenuous exercise, especially activities that make your face hot and sweaty
  • Alcohol
  • Strong sun exposure; wear a hat and sunscreen outdoors
  • Facial massage, gua sha and other radiofrequency or laser treatments
  • Exfoliation, acid treatments and highly concentrated active skincare

What you can continue

  • Normal makeup from the following day
  • Lukewarm cleansing with your usual gentle cleanser
  • Moisturizing and sun protection, the main priorities during this period
  • Flying home is not affected

When will changes appear?

Ulthera stimulates collagen remodeling in deeper layers, which takes time. Most guests gradually see changes in contour and firmness over 2–3 months rather than on treatment day. Skin sensations may change before visible appearance during the first two weeks.
